Badge Art, iPhone App, and Aquaponics

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I’ve been a bit of a busy bee.

I submitted a coloured version of My Dreams Are the Best to the Phoenix ComiCon Badge Art contest.

I also submitted the art and content for my own iPhone app that was developed and submitted by Onezumi and Harknell (They rock!). Unfortunately, Apple has currently rejected the app that merely displays my comic, twitter and blog feeds because I put a Donation button for PayPal on my site.. When I was unemployed.

*Insert long blank stare at Apple*

Anyways, Onezumi and Harknell have responded with a justification, so, we’ll see. That may go up soon… And I just changed the button to say “Like my comic? Send chai!”

I think I’ve also mostly finished the aquaponics project – a couple things need to be re-arranged so that a grow bed sits nicely around two of the air tubes. This is what it looks like:

I’ve been blogging about it on the Em2a Studios Blog.

Em2a HQ iPhone/iPad/iPod App now available!

Friday, March 12th, 2010

Check it out: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/em2a-cartoon-hq/id359296392?mt=8

I have an App! It feeds in the RSS feeds from my comic, my twitter, my blog, Yin’s Twitter, Yang’s Twitter, and Jesse’s Twitter.

Art by me, development by Harknell, Onezumi, and the Onezumi Studios team. (There was another person listed in the development, but I forgot their name. I’m sorry!)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Server seems to be working normally

Well, on the front end. Most of the issues remaining involve e-mail, but that’s for The NeTGoD to work on and shouldn’t affect the site. Comics should resume normally.

Thanks for your patience!

And Who Said Wanderlust Wasn’t Genetic?

I come from a long line of travelers. My Great-Grandaddy and Great-Gramma Fix danced with the pygmies in the wilds of Africa. All of his boys joined the military at some point, his eldest (my great uncle George) even traveling and photographing the world with his bride many years after that. My grandfather and grandmother have done extensive traveling. My mother has even backpacked across Europe.

I’ve always known since I was a little girl that one day I would follow in their footsteps. I’m done waiting.

I’ve decided that on May 25, 2013 (turns out that’ll be “Buddha Day”), I will embark upon my journey. I haven’t decided how long I will be gone, but I’m beginning the planning now. I’ll be saving up my pennies, sloughing away unnecessary material possessions, and plotting a map.

While I’m gone, I plan to be photographing and logging my journey, and maybe something bigger will come out of it. I don’t know.

I have vague ideas of places that I want to go, but I welcome any input/suggestions/ideas of places to sleep, go, things to see, etc.

So I pose the question: If you could go ANYWHERE in the world, where would you go?

-EDIT-
Speaking of, Alicia posted the video of Grat Grandaddy Fix dancing with the pygmies on YouTube. It’s pretty cool!

Life, Or Something Like It

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Thank you to all my friends and family who have supported me and my dearest friend, Luis, over this extremely difficult time.

Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter have been most instrumental in making sure people are aware and conscientious of the current happenings. There are many people that I have lost contact with for various reasons, but this is something in which we could all regroup.

It’s amazing how quickly even the most simple instance can become incredibly complicated. People are capable of doing things to others that I cannot even comprehend when they are at their ultimate low. I cannot feasibly grasp the nature of stigmas, bullying, career homicide, or things of that nature. That someone can even think of doing so to another person is beyond me.

It makes me extremely grateful for my close family (of the heart and of blood) that know me, know what I’m about, and support me no matter what. I’m an incredibly open person because I feel that I need to be. I need people to see who I really am so they can decide for themselves how they want to be and then be that. I am blessed that so many have accepted my eccentricities and my passionate candidness. I am blessed that the people I care about don’t judge me on them and may even appreciate me more for them. This is what I wish for the world: Full self expression and Love.

One day I will give the whole story. Names will be changed to protect the innocent. However, I, and many others, feel that this story needs to be told. I cannot imagine nor be okay with this happening to anyone else.

I believe in the power of Miracles. Even as an omnitheistic pagan Buddhist-type, I recognize the power of focused thought, otherwise known as prayer, that surpasses the limitations of any religion. I do strongly believe that it is due to the power of this thought/prayer that Luis is able to breathe on his own without the assistance of machinery after over a week of being unable to. For that, I continue to hold out for a full Miracle – there are no limitations when you put your mind to it.

At the same time, I continue to pray for our people and our planet. We seem to have deviated from our once community-driven ways. I pray that as we grow, our focus will shift back upon others and away from one’s Self. That egos will be put aside as we strive to the greater good of ALL people. That religion will be as personal as a preference for hair colour, and we can see that each and every person is our neighbour. That we can surpass our personal limitations and help our fellow humans lift each other up. That we can let go of what we think the outcome should be, and focus on our mutual Love for another.

There is so much work to be done. I refuse to give up. It is not an option. I choose to go forward and work towards a better world.
