Computer WOES

Friday, November 7th, 2008

Yes, I had planned on updating more frequently. Unfortunately, I subsequently had issues with my scanner, moving twice, and then the program that I was using as my comic manager stopped working.

Enough excuses, I’ve done the re-design that I’ve been bitching about since I started this page.

Hah! Made ya look…

New site design. Insert Kermit’s “Yaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!” *wild flailing arms*.

Leave me a comment to tell me what you think about it. Also, if anything breaks, LET ME KNOW! I haven’t have time to do a full cross-browser test.

I’m still trying to get the Gallery to work so I can host some of my artwork on here.

OH YEAH

Don’t forget to check out that OTHER new comics. What’s that? Others? Yeah, there are 3 new ones sitting up there. Just thought you’d like to know…

She Said Down?

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

So, if you tried within the past 20 minutes to access the site and it broke, don’t worry, I was changing some backend stuff.  Everything should work fine now like it did before.  As with all changes, if you notice ANYTHING amiss (because the internet gnomes are always out to get me), leave a comment, and if that doesn’t work, pop me an e-mail.  You can’t miss me: emily, emma, and admin [at] em2astudios.com all work.

Thanks guys!  I appreciate your patience :)

[update]
Oh yeah!  If you were wondering what I did (since I know I’m not the only web developer out there), I upgraded my WordPress to the new 2.7 beta 3.  I also upgraded my ComicPress Manager to 1.2.0, and added two new widgets to the left column.  Twitter’s RSS feed is working fine now, but their badges no longer work.  I’ve added the only one that I’ve managed to get to work, and a weather plug-in so I can brag about Phoenix’s nice weather without having to keep track of it myself.  I’m such a brat.

New Year

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

This new year has me leave behind 23, look up to a new president, and wishing that my external harddrive didn’t die on my birthday.

Ah well, hope yours has been better than mine so far!

*Whew!*

Turned the 3 column ComicPress into a 2 column design. Why? Because I felt like it, honestly…

PHP is kind of a pain in the butt, but I managed to go through ALL the templates and comment out any reference to the sidebar-right.

If you have the web developer plug-in for Firefox, go ahead… Take out my comment tags. I dare you. :-p

200th Comic

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

I have now officially (realized that I) posted 200 comics. 200 of them, my friends. It’s taken 7 years to do it, too (only 4 if you count the creation of the site).

One of my friends mentioned to me while I was working Phoenix ComiCon that one of these days my “working a con” will refer to a booth, and those lines of people outside would be coming to see my panel.

To which I responded “I hate panels. My first panel I have, I will be sure to mention it and blame it on you.”

I mention this now (before I draw it like I plan to) because finding out that I’ve now done/posted 200 comics has reminded me that despite it all, I love drawing. Drawing my comic actually makes me happy. I haven’t taken the whole comic thing seriously mainly due to the facts that a.) I am pre-programmed to think that there’s no money in it (see sketches section on my DeviantArt page), and b.) I’ve already taken one hobby and made it into a job…
But honestly, the more I think about it, the more I do want to drop everything, live in my mother’s basement (in Ohio, where it’s cold), and draw to my heart’s content. I miss having that kind of free time, and I miss having that kind of motivation.

I have many fears these days (as I’m sure we all do). However, I stand for Love, not Fear, and that some how things will work out in my favour. It’ll happen. It’ll happen for all of us that run for our dreams, not from them.

I’ve been in Marketing long enough. I can Market myself. I’m going to do this.

(Be afraid.)

!#)(%&!! – Nav

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Hey guys, I’ve taken down the navigation that goes under the comic. Why? B/c I’m trying to actually work on making a functional one and the code is (MORE THAN!) wonky.

So, in the meantime, just use the forward and back ABOVE the comics, and the first comic lives here.

Handwriting in a Font!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

handwritinginafont I discovered this really nifty webpage that will turn your handwriting into a font. It’s YourFonts.com, and they’re giving away free fonts until they hit the 250K mark. So, if you want it, I would suggest you go soon, because they were at 151K when I got mine.

Just sayin’.

Also, br clear=”all” is always your friend.
